Val d'émeraude

... the Cevennes, a schist and granite range carved in valleys and hills, shaping a blue sea of crests dominated by the Aigoual mount (1567m). A land of protestant faith, then a land of resistance, refuge and clandestinity, the Cevenes still remain today a beautiful free wild country. Everything here has been hardly gained on nature. In order to grow vines, olive trees, staples... the man built, created, carved with its own hands these landscapes while protecting the harmony and the balances of the environment. The drailles, prehistoric trails used but the sheeps for their migration, are now used by hikers who discover a rich and diversified countryside, our memory for tomorow.

... the Salindrenque valley,

the Cevennes all in slopes and contours

The Salindrenque Valley is located in the periphery of the Cevennes National Park, at an height of 300m (average). The valley has been made by the Salindrenque river, a tributary of the Gardons, flowing from the Liron, or Fageas (1180m), of the Aigoual range, and the Brion (918m).

Here the chestnut tree," bread tree", is king, along with the old mulberry tree, or "golden tree", which brought prosperity in the old times of natural silk.

"Esmerald Valley", "French Small Switzerland", are the flattering names of this green oasis with pleasant landscapes and calm charm.
